Margaret TaylorMargaret L. Taylor, 98, of Gifford, formerly of Rushville, died at 6:05 a.m. Jan. 5, 2023, at Gifford Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Gifford.

She was born Sept 18, 1924, a daughter of Ralph and Pauline Boehm McCormick. She married Maurice E. Taylor on April 7, 1946. He preceded her in death in 2014.

She also was preceded in death by one grandson, Bart Tredway; one brother, Ralph C. McCormick; and one sister, Lucille Rule.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathryn A. (and Bill) Tredway of Tolono and Paula S. Myers of Bunnell, Fla.; one brother, Bobby (and Phyllis) McCormick of Springfield; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1942. She worked at Boehm and Sons Meat Market and at the OPA office during World War II. She was a lifelong member of Rushville First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder and Deacon. She attended the ladies study group and sang in the church choir for 50 years. She also was a member of Schuyler Singers.

She served on the Culbertson Hospital Auxiliary Board, was a Girl Scout Leader and Girl Scout cookie chairman for five years, volunteered with HELP for 14 years and participated in Pandora’s Playhouse.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Rushville First Presbyterian Church with Mr. David Haney officiating. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Culbertson Foundation Nurse’s Scholarship Fund or to Rushville First United Presbyterian Church.
