Maurice TaylorMaurice Eugene Taylor, 92, of Rushville died at 7:21 a.m. Nov. 19, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Schuyler County, a son of Paul E. and Eva Pearl Grafton Taylor. He married Margaret L. McCormick on April 7, 1946, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kathryn (and Bill) Tredway of Tolono and Paula Myers of Rushville; one sister, Lois Pryor of Lockport; one brother, Paul R. (and Sandra) Taylor of Port Ritchey, Fla.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Marjorie Danner.

He graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1941. After graduation, he worked for Kroger Grocery Company until he was called to serve his country. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in England, France, Germany and Luxemburg.

After his return to Rushville, he worked for Kroger’s for five years, Bartlow Brothers as a salesman for 22 years and as a rural mail carrier for 11 years until he retired in November 1985.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Schuyler American Legion Post #4, retired rural carrier association and served a term as chairman of Schuy-Rush Park Board.

Services were held Saturday at his church with Mr. David Haney officiating. Inurnment will be held at Rushville City Cemetery at a later date. Worthington Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
