Rose TaylorRose M. “Rosie” Taylor, 90, of Rushville, formerly of Metamora, died at 2:12 p.m. April 19, 2020, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Metamora, a daughter of Joseph and Theresa Schaub Alig. She married Donald Taylor in November, 1970. He preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1980.

She also was preceded in death by three sisters, Rita Kapraun, Betty Kapraun and Josephine Trotter; and one brother, Jacob Alig.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel (and Kathy) Daxenbichler and Kendall (and Kimmie) Taylor, both of Rushville; three stepchildren, Vickie (and Matt) Lucchesi of Chesterfield, Mo., Cheryl (and Tom) Howard of Rushville and Chris (and Brittney) Taylor of Beardstown; two sisters, Carina (and Earl) Stotler and Joan (and Louis) Turner, both of Metamora; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She worked at the Caterpillar Morton Parts Plant for 19 years, leaving in 1972. She and her husband owned Taylor Machine in East Peoria and later in Rushville, for 11 years. In 1980, she opened the Neat ‘N’ Nifty store in Rushville, and operated it for nine years. She also operated the Kandy Lady for nine years. She owned Dolly’s Closet, where she made clothes for American Girl dolls.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Rushville, the American Legion Auxiliary and was a former member of the Rushville Chamber of Commerce.

Because of the current health situation and directives from the Illinois Governor and the CDC, no formal services will be held at this time. A graveside service will be held at the Palm Cemetery, west of Rushville at a later date. The Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, at the Christian Neck Cemetery north of Rushville with David Haney officiating. The Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.

Services were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
