He was born Sept. 24, 1946, in Macomb, the son of Travis and Dorothy Long Thomson.
Surviving are several aunts and uncles; many cousins; his caretakers, George (and Marj) Long of rural Adair; and special friend, Shari Curtis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Jeron Thomson.
He had a masters in physics. He taught school for a few years in northern Illinois and then was a computer engineer for NTN Bowers for many years before his retirement.
In his last several years he worked on his family farm teaching the ropes to the next generation.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Cemetery west of Table Grove with David Long officiating. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Spring Lake Park.
