SIDNEY HUGH THOMAS

Sidney Thomas

Sidney H. Thomas, 75, of Vermont died at 9:25 p.m. March 23, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Macon, Ga., a son of Sidney M. and Esther L. Anderson Thomas. He married Marion Grimmer on Sept. 24, 1962, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Michelle McDougal of New Braunfels, Texas, Tracie (and Gary) Wyatt of White Hall and Cynthia Bowie of College Station, Texas; one son, Eric (and Thelma) Thomas of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Lowell Kent Thomas.

He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company, retiring after 31 years.

He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War veteran.

He was a member of the Vermont American Legion.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service in the Vermont Cemetery will be held at a later date. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
