L. Kent ThomasL. Kent Thomas, 64, of Vermont died at 8:45 p.m. May 13, 2010, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born July 29, 1945, in Rushville, a son of Sidney M. and Esther Louise Anderson Thomas. He married Nancy Elliott on Sept. 20, 1975, in Vermont. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Timothy Michael (and Jennifer) Elliott and Douglas Kent (and Misty) Thomas, both of Vermont and Megan (and Bryan) Vaughn of Industry; one brother, Sidney Hugh (and Marion) Thomas of Vermont; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He served in the U.S. Air Force in the military police stationed in Hawaii from 1964 to 1969.

He worked at NTN Bower in Macomb for 42 years, currently as an inventory analysis.

He was a member of Vermont Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer; treasurer and past master of Rushville Masonic Lodge #9 A.F. & A.M.; master of Vermont Masonic Lodge #116; District Deputy Grand Master 6th Western District; 32nd degree mason of the Valley of Quincy Consistory and Carroll Rankin Post # 26 in Vermont; and 40 et 8. He was currently the Vermont City Treasurer, and Vermont Township supervisor for over 20 years.

Services were held Monday at his church with Rev. Robert Greene officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery with military rites by Carroll Rankin Post #26, and masonic rites conducted Sunday. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
