JOHN W. TOWERY

John Towery

John W. Towery, formerly of Havana, died Jan. 9, 2017, at his home in Chesapeake, Va.

He was born Aug. 6, 1949, in Canton, a son of Joe E. Towery Sr. and Iona Mae Gruber Towery.

Surviving are his wife Donna; three stepchildren and grandchildren all who reside in Chesapeake area; one son, Jeff Towery and grandchildren of Havana; one brother, Joe (and Glenda) Towery Jr. of Havana; and two sisters, Debby (and Darrell) Pierce of Bluff City and Phyllis (and Robert) Koch of Sunnyland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Iona Gruber Towery; and two brothers, David and Carl Richardson.

He attended school in Havana and graduated with the class of 1967. During high school, he was employed at Wolters Drug Store.

He was inducted into the Navy shortly after graduation. He retired from the Navy as a Lieutenant.

Due to his wishes, no services were held. Cremation was accorded.
