Jimmie TysonJimmie L. Tyson, 86, of Rushville died at 7:50 p.m. March 18, 2016, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Feb. 23, 1930, in Rushville, a son of Lester and Ethel Marie Wilmot Tyson. He married Marjorie Lou Anderson on May 27, 1951, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Ann Young of New Berlin and Leah (and Randy) Skiles of Industry; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a twin brother and sister, Bobby Gene and Rose Marie Tyson who passed away in infancy.

He graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1948 and attended Western Illinois University.

He served in the U.S. Army Korean War before returning to Rushville. He retired from State Farm Insurance in 1995 after 40 years in the business.

He was a member of Rushville United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Rushville Flying Club.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Grant Armstrong officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery with military honors by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and a U.S. Army Honors Detail.
