Sheila TravisSheila M. Travis, 94, of Rushville died July 25, 2013, at her home.

She was born Sept. 5, 1918, in East Moline, a daughter of Harry and Ruby Cardall Elzie. She married Helm Travis in East Moline in 1939. He preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1979.

She also was preceded in death by two sons, Morris Travis and William Travis; one daughter, Betty Henson; four brothers, Paul Wamsley, Harry Elzie, Sonny Elzie and Richard Elzie; five sisters, Mary Eberts, Ruby Hartzell, Alice Lundberg, Betty McFarland and Irene Heinz; two grandsons, Morris Lee Travis Jr. and Ralph DeVore Jr.; and one great-grandson, Cody Henson.

Surviving are one son, Joe (and Deborah) Travis of Goose Creek, S.C.; two daughters, Ruby (and Henry) Hapke of Clayton and Bonny Cain of Rushville; 42 grandchildren, three step grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

For 30 years, she worked as a nurse's aide at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville. She was a teacher's aide at South Grade School in Mount Sterling from where she retired.

She was a member of Christian Church in Ripley.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Ripley Cemetery with Mark Bledsoe officiating. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
