Jasper Lee Taylor, 89, of Ipava died at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Cuba, a son of Harry Ralph and Anna E. Bishop Taylor. He married Lois Evelyn Thomas on July 21, 1941, in Missouri. She died Dec. 16, 1970.

He also was preceded in death by two daughters, Dyrenda Taylor and Brenda Taylor; two brothers, Harold and Glenn; and one sister, Flossie Best.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen (and Tom) Ingold of Ipava and Nancy Kump of Macomb; one son, Donald (and Sharon) of Mendon; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Lewistown Post 5001 and Ipava American Legion Post 17.

A member of the United Mine Workers of America, he was a coal miner at Buckhart Mine until retiring in the 1970s.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; Ipava Masonic Lodge 213; and the "One Shot" Club.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Louis and Hilda Kump officiating. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by his American Legion post.

Memorials may be made to his American Legion post.
