Bertha C. Tarvin, 93, of Havana died at midnight on Jan. 27, 2001, at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.
She was born June 25, 1907, in Alton, a daughter of Newton and Martha Webb Jones. She married Harold Tarvin on Dec. 2, 1928. He died in 1954.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Clyde and Truman; three sisters, Ruth Jones, Ida Mae Walters and Deliphine Moorhouse; one granddaughter; and one stepson, Harold "Wizzer" Tarvin.
Surviving are two sons, Gary Tarvin of Astoria and John Tarvin of Castroville, Texas; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was a telephone operator for Central Telephone Company in Havana and later worked for Karl's Ace Hardware until her retirement.
She was of the Christian faith.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home.
