Paul Thompson

Paul M. Thompson, 87, of Cuba died at 5:05 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born June 16, 1913, in Summum, a son of Martin Luther and Pearl Counselman Thompson. He married Margaret Frame on Jan. 1, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Ronnie (and Marlene) of rural Canton; one daughter, Marilyn (and Glen) Siefert of Cuba; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, James (and Mary Beth) of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and three grandsons.

A member of United Mine Workers of America Local 7110, he worked at Consolidated Coal Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1973.

He also had farmed many years in the Cuba area.

He was an active member of several antique gasoline engine clubs.

He was a 75-year member of Cuba Christian Church, where services were held at 10:30 a.m. today with Rev. Amy Wharton officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Henry-Lange Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.
