DENNIS “DENNY” TRONE

Denny Trone Killed At Work In Pana

A Browning man was killed Tuesday morning, June 10, 1980, while working on power lines near Pana.

Denny Trone, 35, was taken to Pana Community Hospital about 9 a.m. and was pronounced dead at 9:35 a.m.

According to George Wise, chief investigator for the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, Trone was working on power lines from a bucket. Two workers on the ground noticed that Trone slumped down into the bucket. The victim was brought down and taken to the Pana Hospital.

Trone was employed by N.G. Gilbert Corporation of Muncie, Ind., construction-electrical contractors.

An autopsy was ordered by Christian County Coroner Tom Doyle, but cause of death has not yet been determined.

It is believed, according to Wise, that cause of death may have been electrocution. Although power was off, there was possibly static electricity in the line.

Mr. Trone was born Dec. 26, 1944 at Browning, the son of Thomas A. and Pauline Hopping Trone. He was married to Georgiann Lancaster on June 11, 1965 at the First United Methodist Church of Beardstown. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Scott and Steve, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Pauline Trone of Beardstown; one brother, Larry Trone of Beardstown; one sister, Mrs. Marna Maxwell of rural Browning; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Trone of rural Browning; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ethel Hopping of Thousand Oaks, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services were held at Cline Funeral Home in Beardstown at 2 p.m. Friday with Collis Trone of Astoria officiating. Burial was in Browning Cemetery.
