She was born Dec. 10, 1940, in Browning Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of Ansel Bernard and Irene Frances Smith Stroops.
Surviving are two nieces, Colleen Crone of Quincy and Teresa Stroops Gustafson of East Peoria; one nephew, Ken Stroops of Springfield; and six great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Crone; and one brother, Kenneth Eugene Stroops.
She attended Ridgeville and Browning grade schools before graduating from Rushville High School with the class of 1958. She graduated from Jacksonville Business and Careers Institute in 1984.
She worked for Ernest G. Utter Law Office in Rushville for 11 years and over 10 years for the Beardstown Savings and Loan Association in Beardstown. She finished her working career for Perma Bound Books in Jacksonville, where she was employed for 24 years, retiring on Aug. 23, 2008. She was a member of Beardstown First Christian Church.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Browning Cemetery with Brother Matt Haberman officiating. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
