Richard SchenkRichard Greer Schenk, 94, of Rushville died at 2:40 p.m. July 14, 2022, at Bickford Cottage in Macomb.

He was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Waukegan, the son of J. Paul and Gladys Moore Greer Schenk. He married Patricia Jane Miller on Sept. 3, 1950, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 1977. He later married Wilma Evelyn Payne Young on Aug. 1, 1981, in Eureka. She preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2011.

He also was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Wilcox.

Surviving are two sons, John Schenk (and Deborah Fowler) of Minneapolis, Minn., and Andy Schenk of Rushville; two daughters, Susan (and Kevin) O’Neil of Byron and Sarah Schenk of Chicago; two stepsons, David Young of Rushville and Jim (and Trudy) Young of Mount Sterling; one stepdaughter, Nancy Peak (and Fiancé Bill Boyd) of Rushville; one sister, Linda (and Allan) Boehm of Champaign; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1946-48 as a Tech Sergeant, 5th Constabulary in Augsburg, Germany. He attended college at University of Wisconsin where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in International Economic Relations and was a member of the Green Bay Packer band. He also studied accounting at Millikin University, philosophy at Western Illinois University, and attended the Illinois Bankers School and Wisconsin School of Banking. He worked for A. E. Staley in Decatur from 1952-61 and then Rushville State Bank from 1961-93, where he served as President from 1973-93. He served as Chairman of Rushville State Bank Board and Secretary/Treasurer of Rushville Bancshares Inc until retiring from the Board in 2015.

He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he served as deacon, elder, trustee, Sunday school teacher, choir member and was Chairman of the Board three times. He also was a 50-year member of Rushville Masonic Lodge #9 A.F. & A.M. where he served as past worshipful master, Rushville Commandery #56, Knights Templar, Lusk Chapter #20, R.A.M., 22 Club, Ansar Shrine of Springfield, Rushville Lions Club and Rushville Rotary where he was past president.

Services will be held at Rushville First Christian Church Disciples of Christ at 10 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Bill Rucker officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery with Military Honors by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and U.S. Army Honors Detail. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Masonic rites following.
