Wilma SchenkWilma E. Schenk, 81, of Rushville died at 8:37 a.m. Dec. 24, 2011, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born April 6, 1930, in Camp Point, a daughter of Ralph and Delilah Gabbert Payne. She first married Glenn Young on April 23, 1950, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1978. She later married Dick Schenk on Aug. 1, 1981, in Eureka. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, David Young of Rushville and Jim (and Trudy) Young of Mount Sterling; one daughter, Nancy Peak of Camden; two stepdaughters, Susan (and Kevin) O'Neil of Byron and Sarah Schenk of Chicago; two stepsons, John (and Deborah Fowler) of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Andy Schenk of Rushville; two brothers, Ralph (and Georgia) Payne Jr. of Woodstock and George (and Marian) Payne of Rushville; one sister, Alice Trinke of Rushville; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She first worked for State of Illinois Public Aid Office. She also was a farm wife and later a clerk at Kerr Homecenter in Rushville.

She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville, Kum Join Us Sunday school class and Schuyler Home Extension. She was a 4-H leader for many years.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville with Reverend John Sowers officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
