He was born Nov. 10, 1953, in Rushville, a son of Paul and Marjorie Haney Smith. He married Suzie Adcock on April 11, 1981, in Vermont. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jonathan Smith and Andrew Smith, both of Vermont; two daughters, Shantell (and Tony) Hayes and Katryna (and G. Calvin) Greenlief Jr., both of Vermont; two brothers, Mark (and Lisa) Smith of Texas and Russell Smith of Florida; one sister, Sue (and Barry) Beck of Astoria; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Smith.
He worked for the City of Vermont and Vermont Water Department for 40 years.
He was a volunteer firefighter for the Vermont Fire Department and a member of the Sons of the American Legion.
Cremation rites have been accorded. No services are planned at this time. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
