Gladys StambaughGladys Faye (Van Velsor) Stambaugh, 87, formerly of Macomb, died Jan. 16, 2017, at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa.

She was born March 1, 1929, in Prairie City, the daughter of Ervie and Mina Yocum Van Velsor. She married Glen Edward Stambaugh on Dec. 5, 1947. He preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by four siblings.

Surviving are two daughters, Terri (and Larry) McMullen of Anamosa, Iowa, and Debra (and Rollie) Graham of Alleman, Iowa; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Prairie City High School and farmed with her husband in the Adair area until they retired in 1993 and moved to Macomb. She remained in the Macomb area until 2013 when she moved to Iowa to be close to her daughter, Debra. She was a resident at Mill Pond Assisted Living in Ankeny, Iowa, at the time of her death.

She worked with her husband in farming, foster parenting and in their church as youth leaders and Sunday School teachers.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at Berean Christian Church of Ipava, where she was a member. Inurnment will be a private service with only the immediate family in Prairie City Cemetery later. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
