Dorothy A. Stiles, 93, of Beardstown died at 6 a.m. April 18, 2015, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Virginia, a daughter of Ivan and Mamie Hudson Bateman. She married Donald Sherwood Stiles on April 3, 1938. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1991.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Richard Dee Stiles; three brothers, Gene, William and Robert Bateman; and two sisters, Helen Duckwiler and Marlene Harris.
Surviving are one son, Terry (and Roberta) Stiles of Rushville; and one daughter, Donna Fretueg of Rushville; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She worked at Sears in Beardstown and also at Killaman’s in Jacksonville.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Burial will be in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.
