Dorla Strode

Dorla Woodruff Strode, 93, of Industry Township died Dec. 1, 2014, in Sequim Wash., where she had lived since 2013.

She was born June 26, 1921, in Industry Township, a daughter of Goldie and John Woodruff. She married Eldon Haney Strode on June 14, 1942. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Surviving are three children, Richard (and Lisa) Strode of Phoenix, Ariz., Dixie McClenahan (and Bill Beerman) of Sequim, Wash., and Dale Strode of Aspen, Colo.; one twin sister, Doris Padgett Morris of Macomb; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

They moved in 1945 from Illinois to Silt, Colo., where they started ranching. In 1952, they moved to Glenwood Springs, Colo., where they lived until 1981, when they retired to Wickenburg, Ariz. She moved back to Glenwood Springs in 2010 to be with her daughter’s family.

In Glenwood Springs, she was a member of First United Methodist Church. She also was active in the United Methodist Women as an officer and member for years. The organization participated in mission work helping women and children. She also was active in 4-H activities in Garfield County.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 17, at Vermont Christian Church. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
