Roy Surber Jr.Roy William Surber Jr., 74, of Rushville died at 7:04 a.m. Sept. 20, 2012, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born June 6, 1938, in Peoria, a son of Roy William Sr. and Bernice Pansy Brown Surber. He married Gail Schulz on June 21, 1959, in Lockport. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Tamara (and Brian) Welty of Rushville; one brother, Ellsworth Eugene "Buzz" (and Jo Ann) Surber of Beardstown; one sister, Shirley Ann McKinney of East Peoria; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jane Surber and Virginia May McKinney.

He worked at Oscar Mayer Co. in Beardstown, was a dairy farmer and part owner of Surber and Genseal Meat Processing in Rushville. He also was a truck driver for Rushville Truck Lines for several years and retired from Macomb Farm King in 2010.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. James Comstock officiating. Inurnment will follow in Palm Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital or Rushville/Industry Marching Band.
