She was born April 8, 1960, in Galesburg, a daughter of Gale Schisler and Carolyn Cochran Stevens. She married David Kent Sherwood on June 17, 2010, in the Virgin Islands. He survives.
Also surviving are her father, Gale (and Gloria) Schisler of rural London Mills; her mother, Carolyn (and the late Ken) Stevens of Galesburg; one daughter, Elicia (and Justin) Munson of Fairview; two stepchildren, Abby Sherwood of St. Louis, Mo., and Hunter Sherwood of Canton; one brother, Kurt Schisler (and Debbie Pherigo) of Astoria; one sister, Kimberley Schisler (and Danny Lock) of rural Canton; and three grandchildren.
She was a registered nurse and currently worked as a field surveyor for The Joint Commission for Hospital Accreditation in Oak Brook Terrace. She had a passion for traveling the world and tackling the next big challenge, and had volunteered for medical mission work in Kenya and Haiti. She was an avid scuba diver.
She was of the Methodist faith.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Union Church of Rapatee. Visitation will be immediately following the service at Fairview Reformed Church Fellowship Hall.
There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
