Thelma Sherwood

Thelma SherwoodThelma M. Sherwood, 86, of Lewistown died at 11:10 a.m. Nov. 10, 2010, at Sunset Manor in Canton.

She was born April 3, 1924, in Good Hope, a daughter of Bradley and Jane Miller Gregory. She married Lawrence Sherwood on Oct. 18, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Larry (and Karen) Sherwood of Chino Hill, Calif., and Leon (and Linda) Sherwood of Lewistown; one daughter, Thelma Downey of Coronado, Calif.; one sister, Betty Quigley of Oquawka; 12 grandchildren; one step grandchild; 20 great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, seven brothers and three sisters.

She worked as a cook at the original Hilda’s Restaurant in Lewistown, and later worked at the former Clarytona Nursing Home. While she and her husband lived in California, she worked as a cook at a hospital.

She attended Lewistown United Methodist Church.

Services were held Tuesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Deryck Sonaram officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.
