Joe D. Surratt, 57, of Astoria died at 10:45 a.m. May 7, 2010, at home.

He was born Oct. 19, 1952, in Beardstown, a son of George H. and Jeanie E. Lisenbee Surratt. He married Connie Smith Glover on Nov. 20, 1979, in Browning. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jeff (and Wendy) Glover of Enon, Ohio, and Joe (and Jackie) Surratt of Astoria; one daughter, Holly (and Johnny) Parker of Urbana; two brothers, Larry (and Loretta) Surratt of Monmouth and George Surratt of Beardstown; one half brother, Carl Surratt of Bloomington; one sister, Judy (and Mark) Smith of Virginia; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Surratt; and one sister, Shirley Garner.

He was a United States Army veteran serving from 1971 to 1972 as a PFC.

He worked for L and N Industries in Rushville and Ron’s Tire in Beardstown.

He was a member of Moose Lodge of Canton and Astoria American Legion Post #25.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial was in Bader Cemetery in Browning.
