Donald J. Sorrells, 62, of Ipava died at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis.

He was born July 3, 1943, in Avon, a son of Everett and Evelyn M. Manlove Sorrells. He married Sherry Weld on Aug. 19, 1966, in Vermont. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Teresa Sorrells of Table Grove and Amy Sorrells of Ipava; one son, Clinton of Ipava; three brothers, Gary (and Deb) of Oregon, Ill., and Randy and Michael, both of Peoria; three sisters, Marilyn (and Melvin) Hendricks of Rushville, Shirley (and Dick) Olinger of San Diego and Dorothy (and Gary) Clevenger of Galesburg; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph; and one brother, William.

An Army Reserves veteran, he was a member of the Ipava American Legion Post 17.

A member of United Auto Workers Local 98, he worked at International Truck and Engine in Canton and later in Indianapolis for 30 years. He also farmed in the Ipava area.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.
