Verne Shields, 95, of Astoria Gardens and Rehab Center died at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at the Center.
He was born July 16, 1908, in Kerton Township, Fulton County, a son of Albert and Hester Shields Shields. He married Edith Lucille Erb on Aug. 31, 1937, in Keokuk, Iowa. She died Oct. 23, 2000.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Homer.
Surviving are one son, Ron (and Judy) of Pekin.
He was a lifelong farmer.
He was a member of Isabel Church in Lewistown.
Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Cliff Parry officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.
