James L. Slater, 88, of Farmington Country Manor, died at 5:42 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 9, 1910, in Orion Township, a son of Arthur C. and Dora Van Dyke Slater. He married Gladys B. Johnson on March 16, 1938, in Canton. She died July 8, 1995. Two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Addie Lascelles of Ipava and Bonnie Wallick of Yates City; one brother, Robert of Trivoli; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He farmed in the Fulton County area for many years. He was a member of Church of the Brethren in Canton.
Services were held Saturday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton with Rev. Kevin Kessler officiating. Burial was in Highbridge Cemetery in Dunfermline.
