Earl Scott Strong, 99, of Astoria Health Care Center, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born Feb. 4, 1897, near Fountain Green, a son of Clarence and Katie Elizabeth Alton Strong. He married Gertrude May Lowe on April 28, 1948. She died June 9, 1968. One brother and three sisters also preceded him in death.
Surviving are three nieces, Rose Sliger of Ipava, Louise Johnson of LaHarpe and Juanita Nuss of Valencia, Calif.; and one nephew, Wendell Bright of Gulfport.
He farmed for several years and worked at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant until retiring.
Graveside services were held Monday at LaHarpe Cemetery with Rev. Richard Sargent officiating.
Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe was in charge of arrangements.
