Lester C. Slaight, 77, of Canton, died at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 1996, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Jan. 8, 1919, in Summum, a son of Lloyd and Faye Brainard Slaight. He married Mildred Webb on Dec. 24, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Steve Slaight of Canton and Jerry Slaight of Springfield, Ohio; three daughters, Judy Pollitt of Ipava, Kathy McCombs of Delavan and Karla Davison of Canton; one brother, Harold Slaight of Omaha, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
One brother, one grandson and one great-grandson preceded him in death.
He retired from International Harvester. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. William Dustin officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church building fund or the American Heart Association.
