Alene E. Selph, 84, died at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born March 31, 1912, in Cameron, a daughter of Leland Robert and Marie Hamsher Ryan. She married Milton F. Selph on Nov. 1, 1930, in Abingdon. He died on March 5, 1990. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sisters.
Surviving are one son, Dale Selph of Table Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Phyllis) Sublett and Mrs. James (Martha) Bodenhamer, both of St. Augustine; four foster daughters, Dorethea of Cuba, Kathy Vanvelsor of Galesburg, Debbie Boydstun of Abingdon, and Mary Lutz of Sciota; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six foster grandchildren; and four foster great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and had lived in St. Augustine most of her life. She was a member of St. Augustine Christian Church and the Merry Go Round Sewing Club over 50 years.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon with Eleanor Landon officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.
