ELMA IRENE (GOBEL) STAMBAUGH

Elma Stambaugh

Elma Irene Stambaugh, 85, of the Monmouth Nursing Center, Monmouth, and formerly of Perry, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 1996, at the nursing home.

She was born July 22, 1911, near Browning, a daughter of William and Effie Moss Gobel. She married Mike Stambaugh on Aug. 15, 1929 in Rushville. He preceded her in death Jan. 4, 1986.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Ramona) Quinn of Roseville, Mrs. James (Beulah) Foucault of Carlsbad, N.M., and Angela Ruble of Payson; one son, Michael Stambaugh and wife Sandy of Palm Harbour, Fla.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Gobel of the state of Arizona and Virgil Gobel of Browning; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant son, Homer Stambaugh; one daughter, Kathleen Osborne; two sisters, Cassie Perry and Ada Mae Gobel; and two brothers, Wilmer Gobel and Elmer Gobel.

Mrs. Stambaugh attended the Griggsville Regular Baptist Church and was a member of the Perry Garden Club. She resided in Roseville for the last two years and attended the Countryside Bible Church near Monmouth.

Funeral services were held this morning at the Skinner-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Griggsville with Rev. Sam Felten officiating. Burial was in Sheldons Grove Cemetery near Browning.
