Chester Sargent Dies In Arkansas

Chester A. Sargent, 86, of Mountain Home, Ark., formerly of Rushville and Macomb, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 1990, at Baxter County Regional Hospital in Mountain Home.

He was born April 8, 1903, in Rushville, a son of James J. and Martha Young Sargent. He married Ruth Fisk in 1923. She died in 1930. He married Ella Barrett in 1932. She died in 1972. He later married Viola Huston on June 18, 1973, in Racine, Wis. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, James H. of Highland; one daughter, Sara Jewison of Downers Grove; one stepson, Larry Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; one step-daughter, Judy Smith of Browning; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas, three brothers and one sister.

A retired building contractor, he worked for Howard Hughes on the Spruce Goose Project. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home, the Ozark Earth Science Club, Friends of the Hospice in Mountain Home and Lake Norfolk Boat Club.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Rushville with Rev. Roy Adams officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Ozarks or the Mountain Home First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
