VeteranRoscoe A. Smith Of Adair Dies

Roscoe A. Smith, 80, of Adair died at 1:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 1980, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

Born Dec. 27, 1899, in Vermont, a son of Henry and Mary Horwedel Smith, he married Letha M. Hammond Aug. 30, 1919, at Lewistown.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Duane of rural Adair; one daughter, Mrs. Mack (Charlyne) Leighty of rural Vermont; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Carl of Table Grove.

Two brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.

A retired farmer and Navy veteran of World War I, he was a member of American Legion Post 6, Tri-State Lodge and New Salem Christian Church.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. this afternoon in Clugston Funeral Home in Macomb with Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Pennington Point Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to New Salem Church.
