George W. Smith Of Industry Dies

George W. Smith, 82, of rural Industry, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 1980, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb where he had been a patient one week.

Born May 27, 1898, near Marietta in Fulton County, a son of Benjamin and Annie M. Richards Smith, he married Zeda Steel Feb. 17, 1918. She died Sept. 21, 1975.

He farmed in the Table Grove and Astoria areas for many years and for the last 35 years near Industry.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Doris) Bottenberg of Ipava and Mrs. Robert (Lila Jean) Allen of Industry; four brothers, Floyd of Bushnell, Benjamin of Metamora, Clarence of Lewistown and Alva of Avon Park, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Merle Spencer of Marietta; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

One sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clugston Funeral Home in Macomb with Rev. Claude Curry officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb.
