Dr. Clyde Shawgo, Pekin Dentist, Dies At Age 77

Dr. Clyde H. Shawgo, 77, of 1111 S. Capitol, Pekin, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 1980, in Pekin Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted Dec. 26.

He had been a Pekin dentist 52 years. A graduate of Northwestern University School of Dentistry, he was a member of both the Peoria and Illinois dental associations.

He also was a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Trap Shooters Association.

Born in Fulton County Oct. 28, 1902, a son of Peter E. and Artha Weber Shawgo, he married Julia M. Hoyt in June 1925. She died July 7, 1958.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Hiram (Nellie) Beatty of Astoria and Mrs. Albert (Fern) Smith of Peoria; two brothers, Carl L. of Astoria and Curtis W. of Peoria.

Two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Noel-Henderson Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Van Heukelom officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
