Raymond Shores Fatally Injured

Raymond Webster Shores, 59, of Havana, was killed about 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, while he and a co-worker, George Morrell of Bath, were cutting logs at Norris Farms northwest of Havana.

Morrell reported a tree being cut down didn’t fall the way it was expected to, caught the forks of the tractor and flipped it sideways crushing Shores.

Morrell sustained arm and back bruises, but was not hospitalized.

Mr. Shores was born in Mason County, May 9, 1907, a son of Daniel and Maggie (Friend) Shores. On June 21, 1930, he was married at Havana to Ruth Griffin.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Patsy Curless, Astoria; Mrs. Dorla Reavis, Divernon and Mrs. Margaret (Peggy) Walker, Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; seven granddaughters; one brother, Cecil Shores, Gary, Ind., and one sister, Mrs. Barbara Dierker, Easton.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hurley Funeral Home at Havana. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
