Frances RossFrances Eliza Ross, 92, of Rushville died at 4:35 a.m. Oct. 9, 2017, at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Beardstown.

She was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Macomb, a daughter of Forest G. and Anna P. Matheny Toland. She married Robert R. Ross on May 21, 1945, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2010.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Glade Toland and William Toland; and one infant sister, Mary M. Toland.

Surviving are three sisters-in-law, Jane Toland of Lafayette, Ind., Lela Tomlinson of Quincy and Ruth (and Richard) Diseron of Rushville; one brother-in-law, Maurice Ross of Rushville; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She attended Olive Branch and Hickory Grove rural schools in Schuyler County. She was a 1942 graduate of Industry High School and attended Western State Teachers College in Macomb. For two years, she worked for Illinois Commercial Telephone Company in Macomb. She was a farm wife and homemaker.

She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school. For over 60 years, she was a member of the Schuyler County Home Extension, having served several years as president. She also was the leader of the Blue Ribbon 4-H Club for 11 years, a member of the Illinois State and National Associated Women of the World and the Nifty Needlers Quilting Group.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with David Haney officiating. Burial will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
