Robert RossRobert R. Ross, 87, of Rushville died at 3:58 a.m. Feb. 18, 2010, at his home.

He was born Dec. 8, 1922, in Buena Vista Township, Schuyler County, a son of John Davis and Charlotte Mabel Tucker Ross. He married Frances Eliza Toland on May 21, 1945, in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are two brothers, Byron Ross and Maurice Ross, both of Rushville; three sisters, Mabel Heath of Eldorado, Kan., Lela (and Russel) Tomlinson of Palmyra, Mo., and Ruth (and Richard) Diseron of Huntsville; and five nephews, seven nieces, one step-nephew, three step-nieces and several great-nephews and nieces and great-great-nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by one nephew, Rodney Diseron.

He was a lifelong farmer north of Rushville. When he first started farming, he farmed with mules and horses. He also raised Pure Bred Angus cattle. He was named the first Master Farmer in 1985 by the Schuyler County Ag Day Committee.

He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church north of Rushville and American Angus Association.

Services were held Monday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dixie Croxton officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
