Richard RutledgeRichard Lee Rutledge, 81, of Preemption died June 9, 2016, at his home.

He was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Table Grove, the son of Albert Lee and Clara Pauline Imel Rutledge. He married Marjorie L. Parsano on Sept. 17, 1955, in Ipava. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2013.

He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Melanie in 1968; one son, Randy in 2015; and one sister, Ann Mae Horwedel.

Surviving are one granddaughter, Melanie Johnson and her children, Printis, Norma and Perseus Johnson; one grandson, Rodney Rutledge and his son, Rodney Jr. and adopted son, Christopher Washington; two sisters, Carol Schmidt of Aledo and Vivian Worthington of Table Grove; and one niece, Becky Hamm.

He graduated from VIT School. From 1957-59, he served in the United States Army. He had worked in the construction business as a laborer and as a farm hand before going to work at Farmall, where he retired after 23 1/2 years.

He was a member of Viola Masonic Lodge #577. He belonged to many tractor associations and had many tractors he restored, all Farmalls.

Cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday at Dennison Funeral Home in Viola followed by Masonic Services. Graveside services with military rites will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Vermont Cemetery.
