She was born Oct. 19, 1948, in Beardstown, a daughter of Giles and Eleanor June Thompson Dodds.
Surviving are three sons, Josh Root, Mike (and Amanda) Root and John (and Shelly) Root, all of Rushville; one daughter, Angel (and Donnie) Vaughn of Rushville; four brothers, Warren Dodds, Glen Dodds and John (and Carol) Dodds, all of Rushville and James (and Phyllis) Dodds of Adair; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Rosemary McFalls; and one brother, Phillip Dodds.
She worked at Kozy Korner, in home healthcare and at Breadeaux Pizza where she was known as the pizza lady.
She was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.
Graveside services were held Monday at Gillette Cemetery with Rev. Greg Fish officiating. Burial followed. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
