He was born Sept. 4, 1937, in Rushville, a son of Winnie and Lola Haley Rice. He married Ruby C. Wells on Sept. 27, 1958, in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Craig (and Suzette) Rice of Rushville; one sister, Ruby Wolesky of Owatonna, Minn.; one grandson; Andrew Rice of Springfield; one sister-in-law, Mary Rice of Rushville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, infant Everett Lee Rice, Russell “Bud” Rice and Robert E. Rice; and one sister, Marjorie Whitfield.
He was a life-long auto mechanic first working with his father and brothers at Winnie Rice Garage. He later operated his own Auto Repair Shop.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
