Carlete RoseNola Carlete Rose, 85, of Astoria died at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 12, 2006, at Astoria Gardens & Rehab Center.

She was born Oct. 29, 1920, in Bernadotte, a daughter of Covadis E. and Anna Mae Johnson Seward. She married Alfred Carlyle "Curly" Rose on Sept. 7, 1940. He died Dec. 24, 2005.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Wandalee Mae Seward and Patsy Seward; one brother, Donald Seward; and two granddaughters, Janell Kay and Marcella Jean Watson.

Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn (and Don) Watson of Astoria; one son, Carmen (and Barbara) of Macomb; two brothers, Gerald (and Darlene) Seward of Beardstown and Max E. Seward of Astoria; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She and her husband owned and operated Curly's Auto Repair in Astoria for 51 years. She also was a homemaker.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school, Bible school, women's Bible classes and home weekly Bible classes and was missionary secretary.

She had been a den mother for the Astoria Cub Scouts.

Services were held Monday at her church with Gary Sheets and Ben Peterman officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to her church's missionary fund.
