V. Fern Riebling, 92, of Astoria, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at the Astoria Healthcare Center.
She was born Sept. 14, 1904, in Schuyler County, a daughter of James and Hannah Margaret Cook Lybarger. She first married Lester Walters on Nov. 9, 1923. He died Dec. 25, 1968. She later married Freeman Riebling on Aug. 1, 1969. He died on Jan. 9, 1979. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by one son, Robert Walters of Astoria; one step-son, Freddie Riebling of Industry; two step-daughters, Shirley Norris of Astoria and Joyce Claassen of Washington; and a number of stepgrandchildren, step great-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Riebling was a homemaker and a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church.
Services were held Saturday at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Phillip Glick officiating. Entombment was in the Astoria Mausoleum.
