Richard L. Rhoades, 72, of Peoria, died at 2 a.m. Friday, May 26, 1995, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born June 26, 1922, in Sheldons Grove, a son of Earl and Erma Edwards Rhoades. He married Lorraine Jordan on April 16, 1949 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Steve of Washington; two daughters, Susan Ard of Hutchinson, Kan., and Debra Vaughn of Bartonville; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bob of Rushville, Lester of Beardstown and Ray of Sunnyland; four sisters, Virginia Bushnell of Lansing, Maxine Davis of Havana, Betty Harn of Peoria Heights and Joyce Mantovanti of Clearwater, Fla.; and one aunt, Nellie Shaw, Rushville.

He was a salesman for the Illinois Sheriffs Association. He also sold police and fire equipment in central Illinois, last working in 1990. He was a member of the Hanna City Sportsman’s Club. A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 814 and the American Legion Post in Hanna City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel with Rev. Ken Yocum officiating. Burial was in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
