Ruth PollittRuth E. Pollitt, 88, of rural Lewistown died at 10 a.m. Sept. 2, 2021, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born Nov. 21, 1932, in Lewistown, a daughter of William and Bertha Beaird Vaughn. She married Roderick L. Pollitt on Feb. 21, 1952, in Lewistown. He died May 5, 2009.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Verlyn Vaughn.

Surviving are two children, William (and Wanda) Pollitt of Austin, Minn., and Pamela (and Steve) Blackwell of Lewistown; one brother, Albert Vaughn of Lewistown; one sister, Janet (and Raymon) Meyer of Avon; and two grandchildren.

She graduated from Lewistown Community High School in 1950. She worked at Illinois Bell as a telephone operator. After she and Roderick were married, she became a farm wife and helped with the family farm.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lewistown, the Fulton County Farm Bureau and the American Shorthorn Association.

A graveside service was held Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Pastor Penny Frame officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Life was held at the Lewistown Park District building. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.
