Phyllis PilgerPhyllis J. Pilger, 69, of Havana died at 6 p.m. July 10, 2021, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born March 19, 1952, in Canton, a daughter of Phillip and Louise Shaw Danner. She married Stephen Pilger on Sept. 30, 1989, in Havana. He survives.

Also surviving are six children, Christy (and Dwayne) Fortney, Anthony Danner and Jay Pilger, all of Havana, Tina (and Steve) Shoemaker of Chandlerville, Stephanie Dorethy of Canton and Sarah (and Bobby) Arnett of Cuba; one sister, Helen Baucom of Clayton; one brother, Tim (and Jan) Danner of Forest City; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one granddaughter, Renice Stevenson.

She was a member of Central Christian Church in Havana, where she had served as a deacon. She was a volunteer and administrator for Havana Food Pantry for many years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Post #6408 Auxiliary.

She had worked at Dana-Victor, Wagoner and Interment Foundry in Havana for many years, until her retirement. She later worked as a caregiver at Riverview Estates and for other individuals in the Havana area.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana with Rev. Don Graham officiating.
