He was born Oct. 4, 1937, in Canton, a son of Raymond and Grace Clear Peters. He married Jean Ford on Sept. 18, 1973, in Lewistown. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Becky (and Tim) Conn of Soldier, Ky., and Julie (and Rick) Harper of Calhoun, Colo.; five sons, Randy (and Darnell) Peters of Lewistown, Tim Peters, Jacob (and Bobbi) Peters of Fort Madison, Iowa, Curtis (and Heather) Peters of Galesburg and Travis (and Jeri) Peters of Astoria; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sydney Avery; five sisters; and four brothers.
He worked at International Harvester, retiring in 1987. After retiring, he worked as a farmhand for several farmers and grain elevators.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Gary Sheets officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
