She was born March 14, 1953, in Canton, a daughter of Elmer and Deloris Dober Lawver. She married Steven Poppenhager on June 6, 1981, in Astoria. He survives.
Also surviving are her father, Elmer Lawver of Pekin; one daughter, Tara Poppenhager of Milwaukee, Wis.; one son, James Douglas Poppenhager of Kewanee; one sister, Crystal (and Allen) Welker of Vermont; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Deloris Lawver; one brother, Carl Lawver; and three sisters, Darlene Westlake, Rhode Davis and Leanna Ludwig.
She was a CNA caregiver for several years. She also worked at Wal-Mart in Beardstown and Macomb for a total of 20 years. After her 20 years at Wal-Mart, she worked for Help at Home in Macomb.
She was a member of Vermont Christian Church.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Astoria Cemetery with Pastor Cody Stinnett officiating. All family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life immediately following the graveside service at Vermont Christian Church. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
