LOIS L. (SHECKLER) PRATHER

Lois Prather

Lois L. Prather, 83, of Astoria died at 6 p.m. Sept. 28, 2012, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.

She was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Avon, a daughter of Frederick Paul and Mildred Catherine Humberstone Sheckler. Mildred passed away when Lois was young and Marjorie Wagle continued to raise Lois. She married Kenneth F. Prather on Jan. 21, 1950, in Bushnell. He preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2010.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Sheckler.

Surviving are three sons, Keith (and Rosemarie) Prather and Russell (and Glenna) Prather, both of Astoria and Edward (and LeeAnn) Prather of Clanton, Ala.; special cousin, Leann Stelzer of Denver, Colo., (daughter of Marjorie Wagle); eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker. She also was a custodian of Astoria United Methodist Church for many years where she taught Sunday school and was active in various programs of the church.

She was a member of Astoria United Methodist Church.

Graveside services were held Monday at Astoria Cemetery with Pastor Steve Granadosin officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad.
