Paul R. Piper, 92, of Monmouth died at 8:30 a.m. March 23, 2012, at his home in Monmouth.

He was born March 4, 1920, in Dekalb County, Mo., a son of Henry M. and Bessie M. Guyer Piper. He married Ida Rosella Skiles on Feb. 14, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sandra Hunt of Monmouth and Melody (and Dennis) Piper Britton of Kirkwood; one son, Terry Piper of Monmouth; one sister, Martha Matthews of Quincy; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

He served in the United States Navy.

He worked for a time as a farmer. He later worked at Admirals in Galesburg and also at Randall Bus Service in Galesburg as a mechanic.

Services were held Tuesday at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Burial was in Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth.

A memorial fund has been established for St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
